EXPO 2023 Wrap Up and Results

 

North Queensland Scale Modellers Inc. 9th annual model competition and expo took place over the 2023 Kings birthday long weekend at the Jezzine Barracks Military Museum.  Whilst the number of models on display and entering the competition (121 and 105 respectively) was down on last year, modellers were agreed that the quality of builds was outstanding and variety of subjects broader than in previous years.  

Of note one in five models entered was by a modeller who had not entered a competition previously and several of these won categories and awards. Certainly, the vibe of the weekend was relaxed and congenial, and lots of conversations occurred between modellers swapping stories, tips and advice. Our new online entry system worked well and there were plenty of helpers with the difficult task of judging which proceeded efficiently.

Thanks to the generous support of our members and sponsors we were again able to raise in the vicinity of $1000 for our supported charities.
