2023 Expo and Competition Information

 

NQSM Inc. is pleased to announce that their ninth annual Model Expo and Competition is confirmed for the Kings Birthday long weekend 30 Sept and 1 Oct 2023 at the Jezzine Barracks Military Museum, Kissing Point, Townsville.  



The model competition will be held on Saturday 30th Sept with entries accepted in the morning and judging conducted in the afternoon. On Sunday 1 Oct the display will be open to the public.

Schedule of events

Friday 29th September

3 pm to 4  pm-Entries accepted at Jezzine Barracks Military Museum (note entry to museum is via the rear carpark accessible via Cook Street/ Jezzine Way West.)


 Saturday 30th September

9 am to 11.30 am - entries accepted at Jezzine Barracks Military Museum - note entry to museum is via the rear carpark accessible via Cook Street/ Jezzine Way West.

11.30 am - 3 pm – competition judging and collation of results (all entrants are encouraged to be involved in the judging process)

6.00 pm - Dinner at Hotel Allan – all entrants and families’ welcome

 

Sunday 2 October

9 am to 1 pm - Model display open to public at Jezzine Barracks Military Museum

10am to 11 am  Buy swap and sell - staff room. 

11:30 - 12:30 pm  BBQ / Sausage Sizzle lunch - gold coin donation. 

1pm to 2pm - Awards ceremony

Please note that this year entries must be registered using an online form - one form for each model. This will allow us to automate the printing of entry cards for your models.

The cut off for registering is midnight on Friday 29 Sept.  Unregistered entries will not be accepted on the day of competition.

Judging will  be conducted by teams of 2-3 experienced modellers following the IPMS competition guidelines.

The theme for the special category this year is “After the Apocalypse”.



An award will also be made for the "Best WWII Aircraft" - sponsored and chosen by Jason Baily (Aussie Scale Modeller.)  The Graeme Harris trophy will be awarded for the best 1/72 scale aircraft. 


Our event is not for profit and all proceeds are donated to our beneficiaries Mates4Mates and Fetch Assistance Dogs.

Best of Show–sponsored by Outlaw Paints , this model will be chosen from the leading competition entries and judged separately by the chief judge.
