2023 NQSM Competition Rules

2023 Model Competition – Rules

The competition is open to all entrants regardless of club affiliation. Entries are scale models that are solely the work of the entrant.

Entrants may choose the category from the list below best suited to their model. If in doubt the chief judge will allocate the category.

If your entry is large (greater than 50 cm in any dimension) please give the dimensions in the description section of the online entry form.

By entering the competition, you consent to your entries being photographed and the images used to promote NQSM Inc. and its events.

Entries that have previously taken first place in any other competition must be entered into the Master Modeller category, however any model can be entered in this category. The new modeller category is for any scale or subject by a first-time model competition entrant.

Reference material is not required however a reference photo if applicable is encouraged, especially for unusual subjects or schemes.

The organisers may need to rearrange models and may split or combine categories depending on the number of entries in each category.

Models will be moved and handled during the judging process and whilst all care will be taken North Queensland Scale Modellers Inc. does not assume liability for damage to entries.

Entries must remain on display until the completion of the awards ceremony.

Models may be entered as "Display only" in which case they will not be eligible for category awards but remain eligible for the people’s choice award.

Entries must be preregistered before midnight on Friday 29 Sep, using this online form.

An entry fee payable of $5 per model, applies up to a maximum of $20 (5th and subsequent entries are free.)  Please bring correct change on Saturday when submitting your entries. There is no charge for Entries to the young modeller category.

Persons under 18 years of age must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Entrants agree to abide by these rules and to follow the instructions of museum and NQSM INC. officials.

Judging will be undertaken by 2-3 experienced modellers for each category using a formal scoring method based on the IPMS competition guidelines.  Any judging issues or tired scores will be referred to the head judge whose decision will be final.

The event is not for profit and all proceeds will be donated to Mates4Mates and Fetch Assistance Dogs
