North Queensland Scale Modellers - information

North Queensland Scale Modellers is an informal group of scale model building enthusiasts with a range of subject interests including aircraft, military vehicles, ships, automotive, Sci-Fi, figures and dioramas.

For day to day banter, sharing of works in progress or completed projects and items of interest we have a  private Facebook group , just request admission to the group and answer the questions.

Established in 2013 and based in Townsville, we meet once or twice a month on dates advertised on our Facebook group.

Currently Face to face meetings are held at the Aitkenvale Library Meeting Room, once a month on Saturday afternoons midday to 2 pm. The venue changes from time to time.  The meetings are casual and attendees bring along their current build, recently completed build(s), newly acquired kits/ tools/ tips/ tricks for show and tell with the others. Beginners and less experienced modellers are welcome, we are keen to help you develop in a welcoming and non-judgemental environment and after all we were all beginners once.

On occasions we have presentations or tutorials on topics of interest. Model Displays are held throughout the year at Townsville libraries. A scale Model Expo and competition has been held each year since 2015 over the Queen’s Birthday long weekend at the Army Museum North Queensland.

Group members often attend other regional competitions in Mackay and Rockhampton and have established ties to Rockhampton Scale Model Association and Mackay Scale Modellers.

Contact can also be made by email to nqsminc@gmail.com.
